A realistic budget guide from a Florence wedding planner.

If you’re wondering about the cost of a destination wedding in Tuscany, you’re probably looking for a number.

I’ll give you one, but first, I’d ask you a different question:

What do you want your wedding to feel like?

And by that, I don’t just mean the colours, flowers or overall atmosphere.

What is important to you? What is important to your partner? What part of your life do you want your guests to experience? Is it the food, the music, the setting, having everyone together for several days, or simply creating an incredibly beautiful celebration around the people you love?

After planning destination weddings in Tuscany, I’ve learned that the same budget can create very different experiences depending on what a couple values most.

For couples planning a premium destination wedding in Tuscany, I recommend considering a starting investment of around €1,200 per guest before VAT. Moving towards €1,500 per guest gives you significantly more room to shape the experience around your priorities.

And that difference matters.

An 80-person wedding at €96,000 and an 80-person wedding at €120,000 are not simply two versions of the same wedding. They can be two very different experiences.

This guide explains how I look at a Tuscany wedding cost in 2026, based on the real budgets I work with as a Florence-based wedding planner.

What Actually Shapes the Cost of a Tuscany Wedding?

The cost of a Tuscany wedding is shaped by much more than the number of guests. Your vision, venue, season, wedding day, length of the celebration and level of service all have a major impact on the final investment.

The first conversation I have with a couple is therefore not simply about numbers.

I want to understand what they are looking for.

Some couples dream of gathering everyone together in an incredible villa. Others care most about exceptional Italian food, live music, an incredible party or creating a full destination experience over several days.

Once we understand what matters most, we can start building the budget around it.

And then comes the guest count.

Because the budget and the number of guests are inevitably connected.

Why fewer guests don’t always mean a lower cost per person

This is something many couples don’t expect when planning a destination wedding.

If you reduce your guest count, your overall budget will usually decrease, but your cost per guest can actually increase.

Why?

Because a wedding includes many fixed or semi-fixed costs.

The venue doesn’t suddenly become half the price because you have 40 guests instead of 80. Your photographer is still there for the same number of hours. Your musicians still perform for the same event. Your planner still spends months planning and coordinating. Atmospheric lighting still needs to transform the venue after sunset.

Flowers can change depending on the number and length of tables, but many elements of the floral design remain.

Catering is one of the categories where the number of guests has a more direct impact, but even here, staffing and production costs mean that a smaller wedding doesn’t necessarily translate into a proportionally lower price per person.

This is why I always encourage couples to think about budget and guest count together.

Tuscany Wedding Cost: The Real Budget in 2026

For a premium destination wedding in Tuscany, I recommend starting around €1,200 per guest before VAT, with €1,500 per guest allowing considerably more flexibility and a more elevated overall experience.

These figures are not a fixed price list. Tuscany offers an enormous variety of venues and suppliers, so the final investment depends entirely on what you want to create.

But as a starting point, this is how I would think about it.

Indicative Investment by Guest Count (2026)

Wedding Size Indicative Investment per Guest Indicative Total Investment
Intimate (10–20 guests) €1,500+ From around €20,000–30,000+
Small (20–40 guests) €1,300–1,500+ From around €30,000–60,000+
Medium (50–80 guests) €1,200–1,500+ Around €60,000–120,000+
Large (90–120 guests) €1,100–1,500+ Around €100,000–180,000+

Figures are indicative 2026 planning ranges and are shown before Italian VAT. Smaller weddings can have a higher cost per guest because many wedding costs are fixed.

As the guest count increases, the average cost per guest can also decrease slightly. This is because many wedding expenses, such as the venue, photography, entertainment, planning and certain production costs, are fixed or only partially affected by the number of guests.

For larger weddings, particularly those with 100 guests or more, a budget of around €1,100 per guest before VAT can sometimes be realistic, depending on the venue, season and overall level of production.

This does not mean that larger weddings are automatically less expensive. It simply means that some fixed costs are distributed across more guests.

These are not packages or fixed quotes. They are realistic planning ranges to help you understand the scale of investment before you start making decisions.

The €1,200–€1,500 range is not about choosing between basic and luxury. It is about how much of your vision you want to bring to life.

Your Vision Determines the Budget

Two couples can have the same number of guests, the same destination and the same wedding date, and still create completely different weddings.

Every relationship has its own history, influences and traditions. You may have met in different places, grown up in different cultures, travelled different paths, built traditions that matter only to the two of you, or have memories you want your guests to become part of.

Those details can become part of the wedding itself.

For some couples, a historic Renaissance villa feels like the perfect reflection of their taste. Others immediately picture the warmth of a Tuscan farmhouse surrounded by vineyards.

Some want to include flowers that have a personal meaning, perhaps because they remind them of home or of a special moment in their relationship. Others want to incorporate family traditions, create unforgettable moments around food, or design an experience that reflects places and experiences that are important to them.

These decisions can have an impact on the budget because personalisation often requires more time, production, design or specific suppliers.

The more room you have in your budget, the more freedom you have to make intentional choices, elevate the details that matter most to you and create a celebration that feels unmistakably yours.

What do you want your wedding to feel like?

For me, that is a much more useful starting point than simply looking for a price per person.

What Changes Your Budget the Most?

The venue, guest count, date and overall level of production are the decisions that can change your Tuscany wedding budget most significantly.

The venue changes everything

When couples start looking at Tuscany venues, they are often comparing properties that offer two completely different ways of experiencing a destination wedding.

Neither is necessarily the right choice for everyone. The best option depends on how you imagine your wedding unfolding and how you want your guests to experience Tuscany.

Day-use venues

A venue rented exclusively for the wedding day will generally start around €8,000–€20,000, although prices can go higher depending on the property, season, exclusivity and location.

Guests usually stay in nearby hotels or apartments, often in Florence, Lucca or another Tuscan town, and come together for the celebration.

Many couples love this option because it combines the wedding day with the experience of staying in one of Tuscany’s beautiful cities, where guests can explore restaurants, museums and local life before and after the wedding.

The main element to factor into the budget is transportation, since everyone needs a reliable way to reach the venue and return afterwards.

Villas with accommodation

Private villas with accommodation generally start around €25,000, with the final investment depending on the property, the number of nights and the level of exclusivity.

This option creates a different kind of destination wedding experience. Instead of everyone staying in town, some or all of your guests spend time together at the villa itself, sharing breakfast, relaxing by the pool, enjoying welcome dinners or simply spending more time together throughout the celebration.

One approach allows guests to experience Tuscany through its cities, while the other creates a more private, shared retreat. Both can be wonderful ways to experience a destination wedding, and the choice should come down to your priorities, your guest experience and the atmosphere you want to create.

How Guest Count Changes Your Tuscany Wedding Cost

Guest count is one of the most important budget decisions, but it should be considered alongside your priorities rather than in isolation.

If your budget is €60,000, for example, there is a very big difference between creating an experience for 50 guests and trying to stretch the same investment across 100.

This is why I recommend asking yourself two questions in this order:

First: how much do we want to invest in our wedding?

Second: with that investment, how many people can we realistically invite while keeping the experience we want?

There is no right number.

A smaller wedding can allow you to invest more heavily in certain elements, while a larger celebration naturally requires the budget to be distributed across more people.

The important thing is understanding the balance before you start booking venues and suppliers.

How Season and Weekdays vs Weekends Change the Price

The date you choose can make a real difference to your Tuscany wedding budget. Monday to Thursday weddings can often offer better value than Friday, Saturday or Sunday celebrations, especially if you are flexible with your dates.

The season matters too. April, October and November can offer more favourable pricing and availability than the peak months of June to September, making them worth considering if you are looking for a more flexible wedding budget.

But the distinction I pay particular attention to is weekdays versus weekends.

Why Monday–Thursday weddings can cost less

Many Tuscany venues offer lower weekday rates, and some have dedicated Monday–Thursday packages.

Vendors are often more flexible during the week too. There is usually more room to negotiate a proposal, shape the budget around your priorities or have additional services included that may be much harder to secure on a weekend.

It’s about getting more value from the same budget.

If you are flexible about the day of the week, a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday wedding can allow you to invest those savings into the parts of the experience that matter most.

Why weekends are more competitive

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are naturally the most requested dates.

That means the most popular venues and suppliers are in higher demand, and there is generally less room to negotiate.

So if your priority is getting the most from your destination wedding Tuscany budget, don’t only ask yourself which month you prefer.

Ask yourself whether you really need a weekend.

The Tuscany-Specific Costs Most Guides Underestimate

Some of the costs that surprise international couples have very little to do with the wedding itself and everything to do with how weddings work in Italy.

Tuscany is also a much broader destination than a single type of landscape or venue. A wedding in the Chianti countryside, a historic villa just outside of Florence, a celebration in Lucca, a property in the Val d’Orcia, or a venue further south in the Maremma can all create very different logistical requirements.

The location you choose will therefore have a direct impact on transportation, accommodation and supplier logistics.

Private transportation

This is one of the biggest costs couples coming from abroad tend to underestimate.

In many parts of the world, it’s natural to assume that guests can simply book a ride whenever they need one.

In Tuscany, Uber simply isn’t an option.

Many wedding venues are in the countryside, often away from train stations and city centres. Taxis can be limited, especially late at night, and you cannot rely on guests finding their own way home after the party.

For a wedding of around 80 guests, private transportation can easily become an €8,000+ budget item, depending on the venue, routes, number of vehicles and schedule.

If you’re considering a day-use venue, calculate transportation from the very beginning.

It shouldn’t be an afterthought.

Plan B and Outdoor Rentals

A beautiful outdoor ceremony does not automatically mean a beautiful Plan B.

If your venue doesn’t have an indoor space large enough for your guest count and all parts of the event, you may need a marquee, flooring, additional lighting, furniture and other production elements.

A tensostruttura can become a significant additional cost.

This is why I always recommend looking at the Plan B before falling in love with the Plan A.

Italian VAT

Italian wedding prices are often quoted before VAT, so this is something international couples need to check carefully when comparing proposals.

The standard Italian VAT rate is 22%, while certain services, including catering and some hospitality-related services, can fall under the 10% rate depending on the service and supplier.

Always ask whether a quotation is net or gross before comparing it with another proposal.

SIAE and Music Licensing

If you have live music, a DJ or recorded music at your wedding, you will generally need to account for SIAE, the Italian copyright and music licensing system.

The applicable cost depends on the type of event, number of guests and music format, so it should be included in your planning from the beginning rather than treated as a last-minute extra.

Nulla Osta and Atto Notorio

For couples getting legally married in Italy, the paperwork depends on nationality and circumstances.

International couples may need documents such as a Nulla Osta and, in some cases, an Atto Notorio, together with translations and municipality requirements.

These are not usually the largest items in a wedding budget, but they are important to plan correctly and early.

ZTL in Florence, Siena and Lucca

If your wedding or accommodation involves historic city centres, you may also encounter ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) restrictions.

These can affect guest buses, private cars, deliveries and supplier access.

A local planner can coordinate these details in advance so they don’t become a problem on the wedding day.

Where to Invest and Where to Save

The smartest wedding budgets don’t necessarily spend more. They spend where it matters most to the experience you want to create.

If I had to prioritise four investments for a Tuscany destination wedding, these would be mine.

I’d invest in

I’d save on

The goal is to make sure every euro contributes to the experience you want to create.

How a Florence-Based Planner Helps You Keep the Budget Under Control

A local wedding planner helps you understand the real cost of decisions before you make them, not after you’ve already signed the contracts.

Planning a destination wedding from another country means navigating a completely different supplier market, contracts, transportation, venue rules and Italian regulations.

Being based in Florence means I can look at the wedding as a whole.

Sometimes the smartest budget decision is choosing a different venue.

Sometimes it’s moving the wedding from Saturday to Tuesday.

Sometimes it’s protecting your budget from unexpected costs before they happen.

My role isn’t simply to recommend beautiful venues or trusted suppliers.

It’s to understand what matters most to you, help you prioritise your investment, and make sure every decision supports the experience you’re trying to create.

Sometimes that means suggesting a different venue.

Sometimes it means finding a solution you wouldn’t have considered because you don’t know how weddings work in Tuscany.

Is a Local Wedding Planner an Extra Cost or a Way to Save Money?

A local wedding planner can help you make better decisions from the very beginning, especially when you are planning a destination wedding from abroad.

One of the biggest challenges of planning a wedding in another country is understanding how all the individual decisions connect.

A venue that looks more affordable might require thousands of euros in transportation. A breathtaking garden might need an expensive rain plan. Choosing the right wedding date can completely change supplier availability and pricing.

A local planner sees those connections before contracts are signed.

The value isn’t simply in negotiating a lower price.

It’s in helping you understand where your money creates the most impact, so every investment has a purpose and every decision moves you closer to the wedding you actually want to create.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum realistic budget for a destination wedding in Tuscany?

For a premium destination wedding experience, I recommend starting around €1,200 per guest before VAT. The final investment depends on the venue, guest count, season and, most importantly, the experience you want to create.

How much does a Tuscany wedding cost for 80 guests?

For around 80 guests, I would recommend thinking in the region of €96,000–€120,000 before VAT, depending on the level of experience, venue and production. There is a significant difference between the lower and upper end of that range.

Is Tuscany cheaper than Lake Como or the Amalfi Coast for a wedding?

Tuscany is not a “cheap” wedding destination. It is a premium destination, but it offers a wide variety of villas and countryside venues, which can give couples more flexibility when building their wedding experience.

How much can we save by choosing an off-peak date in Tuscany?

The saving depends on the venue and suppliers, but Monday–Thursday weddings can be noticeably more cost-effective than weekends. They also generally offer more availability and greater room to negotiate or include additional services.

Do we need to pay Italian VAT on top of vendor prices?

Often, yes. Many Italian wedding quotes are presented before VAT, so always check whether the price is net or gross. The standard rate is 22%, while certain services such as catering can qualify for a 10% rate.

Why is transportation such a big part of a Tuscany wedding budget?

Because many Tuscan venues are in the countryside and Uber is not an option. Private transportation is often essential for guests staying in Florence, Siena or other towns, particularly when the wedding ends late at night.
